Nonpartisan candidate Barbara Leach states that she will be a “judge for all.”
How is this important? Speaking at a recent University at Buffalo Law School event, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was asked what advice she had for other judges. She said it was important to be patient and compassionate.
“The law doesn’t exist somewhere in the sky. It exists to govern society. Law exists to serve that society … to help keep society operating peacefully. I think it’s important to realize that law is not some sort of abstract exercise. It affects real people, and judges should be cognizant of how law affects the people that law is meant to serve.”
Starlett and Paige share this perspective, and they value how Barbara’s unique background, capabilities, and experiences will make her this type of circuit judge. Together, they are supporting Barbara as a candidate for Circuit Judge in Ninth Judicial Circuit and are hosting a fundraiser for her on October 29, 2019.
“Barbara’s professional and personal experience is broad and inclusive of community issues, business law, and legal community engagement,” said Starlett Massey, founding shareholder of Massey Law Group.
“Above all, she has a deep love and appreciation for the law and the human aspect of how it protects and serves,” said Paige Greenlee, founding shareholder of Greenlee Law.
The Ninth Judicial Circuit Court, located in Central Florida serves Orange and Osceola counties. It covers over 2,000 square miles, serves more than 1.3 million residents, making it one of the largest circuits in Florida. Currently, it consists of 66 judges and receives more than 590,000 new cases annually.
