MLG is proud to announce it has become a Key Partner to the Nonprofit Leadership Center of Tampa Bay (NLC). The NLC’s mission “is to develop and connect nonprofit leaders to strengthen organizations and our communities.” The center provides learning and networking opportunities to nonprofit professionals, leaders, and organizations.
It offers professional development experiences from leadership to financial management and fundraising to board governance. The NLC also trains professionals to serve on nonprofit boards and helps to place them on boards in the Tampa Bay area. Because diverse boards are crucial to ensuring that organizations have broad perspectives to understand the needs of communities, NLC also works to strengthen nonprofit boards in this area.
In the NLC’s nonprofit survey, CEOs and executive directors expressed that while they aspire to have diverse and inclusive organizations, they have more work to do. The most significant barriers to moving diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts forward in their organizations are not knowing where to start, having the time and resources to implement effectively, and needing more training and support. The NLC launched its Advancing Racial Equity on Nonprofit Boards Fellowship to address this need in 2021. The program:
In addition to providing our clients with the best advocacy and legal services, MLG promotes and encourages collaborative, positive change within the legal community and community at large. Diversity and inclusion are values that guide our mission. We are dedicated to fostering and promoting these principles, and we serve and support programs, such as The Florida Bar’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee and Path to Unity Program, Florida CraftArt’s “The Art of Healing,” Collab 3833’s ”Art Elevates,” and Champions for Children.
MLG strives to partner with organizations like these to bring positive change to our community. The NLC helps nonprofits “serve more people, provide more meals, educate more children, see more patients, keep more families together, protect more animals, and create stronger, more equitable communities for all.” We are proud to be a Key Partner to help the NLC and nonprofits in Tampa Bay achieve their missions and make a positive impact.
